About Reflexology

What is Reflexology

Reflexology is a complementary therapy that aids healing
and helps to relax the whole body.

A reflexologist massages and applies gentle pressure to points on the feet and lower leg that correspond to organs or areas of the body.

Reflexology may also be performed on the hands, ears and face.  Working these points may help to restore the body’s natural equilibrium.

Inner Beauty Tip – Try Reflexology
“As you enjoy a foot massage, you benefit from a better oxygen supply via the blood to all organs.   Relaxation and relief of stress will immediately follow a reflexology session. Try it – your first reflexology session is unlikely to be your last!”     Charlotte Vøhtz, founder of Green People

A very brief history

Reflexology dates back to ancient Egypt, India and China but it wasn’t until 1913 that it was introduced to the West as ‘zone therapy’ by Dr William Fitzgerald. He believed that reflex areas on the feet and hands were linked to other areas and organs of the body.

In the 1930’s Eunice Ingham, a physiotherapist, further developed ‘zone therapy’ into what is now know as reflexology.
